We have been delighted to hear how our new streaming service G&S Opera TV has brightened many an evening for our viewers around the world and thought we would take this opportunity to share the most popular productions so far…

1st Place

The Yeomen of the Guard – 1994

Filmed at the very first Festival, this Semi-Staged production of the Yeomen of the Guard boasts a star-studded cast of Original D’Oyly Carte members such as the inimitable Kenneth Sandford, Michael Buchan, Alistair Donkin, Lorraine Daniels, Patricia Leonard and more!

2nd Place

The Gondoliers 2019

 

The second most watched film is the National Gilbert & Sullivan Opera Company’s 2019 production of The Gondoliers. Directed by John Savournin, this incredibly popular production made its debut in Buxton Opera House, before heading to Harrogate and off on the 2019 Tour. Starring Simon Butteriss, Steven Page and Matthew Kellet, this is just the ticket for a cheerful night in!

3rd Place

The Pirates of Penzance  2019

Our third most popular production is, of course, The Pirates of Penzance performed by the  National Gilbert & Sullivan Opera Company in 2019. This all-time favourite is directed by Festival Favourite Richard Gauntlett and features a stellar cast, including Mae Heydorn, Mathew Siveter, David Menezes and more!

4th Place

Princess Ida 2009

Directed by Jeff Clarke and con conducted by David Russell Hulme, this beautiful production Princess Ida is a delight from start to finish. The striking set and black and white costumes create a dramatic backdrop to this spectacular production. Staring Philip Cox as King Gama, Jill Pert, Oliver White, Victoria Byron and many more!
